Use of Technology By Teachers to Help Students

Once it was said by Thomas Alva Edison, “Books will soon be obsolete in public schools…our school system will be completely changed inside of ten years.” The world’s most important inventor was proven wrong as many countries are following the old trend of the system. The education system has resistance towards innovations and there is hardly any change to the current classroom experience since 100 years of Edison’s prediction.

Huge leaps in information technology are already revolutionizing the way people learn and communicate in every aspect of modern day lifestyle except for education. Today’s education system operates under anachronistic needs of an industrial and agrarian world. Students are being placed in groups which are based on age regardless of considering their competencies. They study in places where they are given more instructions on rules and regulation rather than studying which eventually hinders the relationship between the actors.

Teachers must be persuaded that these obstacles can only be overcome by the use of latest innovation in technology. This will helpstudents to learn and will empower them to pursue their goals. Some of the strategies that can be followed by the teachers are to adopt innovative methods in the field of education so that it is beneficial for the students.

Teachers must be empowered by the use of technology in schools:Technology help teachers to do more productive things with few resources.  Communication with students becomes easy with the use of social media platforms like Whatsapp, Facebook etc. Teachers can use online database platforms to store their lesson plan and grade students using different mobile apps. Moreover, students can get help with their assignments on websites like Assignment Geek .

Use of Videos to teach: Teachers should make use of videos and include more real-life examples in their lectures. Many difficult topics such as  thermal conductivity ,electromagnetic radiation, etc. can very well be understood with the help of real-life examples.

Technology Improves the quality of education that is imparted to students: Technology helps to improve the problem-solving skills and creativity of the students. It can serve as a vehicle to help students learn the content of knowledge and build complex problem-solving skills.

Creating Interest Among Students: Students always love to watch a movie rather than reading a related storyline as it saves a lot of time. The virtual (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies can create experiences that could not be lived in real-life. This technology will make the students feel more motivated to learn their subjects.

The weak financial support by the government organization is the main reason for lack of adoption of technology in education. Teachers should start working together as they have extreme potential to change the education system. Technologies used in education might have an initial high investment but returns are quite high as coming generations will have a quality education.
